Jazz and classical pianist and composer Amy Rempel is a doctoral candidate at the New Zealand School of Music. Amy will release two CDs under her own name in 2011, The U2 Project and Chatter. Amy is the recipient of a Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award, an Indiana University Jacobs Scholarship, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra New Music Festival and Manitoba Music Educators Young Composer contests, and was invited to attend the prestigious Ravinia Festival Jazz Program in Chicago. Amy was Associate Instructor and then Adjunct Lecturer of Jazz Piano at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she completed her Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies. She studied with David Baker and Luke Gillespie, and was awarded the Performers Certificate for outstanding performance.
